We are Denise and Jeff Walker, the crew and keepers of Infinity, our 2000 Catalina 34MKII sailboat.

Our foray into the sailing life started later than most people’s but we have found it to be an enjoyable lifestyle overall. We have made many great friends along the way and have had many adventures (some great and some not so great) as we’ve sailed Infinity around Long Island Sound, Fisher Island Sound, Block Island Sound, and Narragansett Bay.
Jeff’s boating experience began in the late 1960’s while heading out into Buzzard’s Bay with his father and grandfather to do some fishing. He got to drive the boat under the watchful eye of his grandfather. Next he was enjoying waterskiing behind a 17′ Bayliner on a reservoir in South Dakota in the mid-80’s. The early 90’s had the boat sold as life moved on but the desire to boat again never got too far away.
Denise’s boating experience began in 2013 with a 6-day sailing school class in Narragansett Bay. It was kind of a rough start but she persevered and succeeded in getting her ASA101 certification. Since then, Denise has developed extensive skills in sailing Infinity. She’ll still tell you that heeling is not her favorite thing but overall she loves sailing and the people and places she experienced.
Why a sailboat? Well, a long time ago, a conversation with his grandfather and the presentation of a cupola with a sailboat weathervane planted the seed of owning a sailboat. It took a long time for the seed to grow into a 34′ sailboat but in August of 2014, the dream finally became a reality. Both Jeff and Denise love to be out on the water, the only sounds being the wind in the rigging and the ocean passing beneath Infinity’s hull. After a day’s sail, some smooth jazz on the radio, a bourbon (Jeff)/margarita (Denise) in hand, and the sun slowly sinking into the sea just completes the day. There’s just something about coming in from the sea under sail that makes it special.
